My name is Carlos Campos and I am a musician, composer and educator. I studied music at Berklee College of Music (B.M.) and New England Conservatory (M.M.). Later on I joined both institutions as a faculty member and taught piano, arranging and other musical subjects. I currently live, work and teach in the Los Angeles area.
During my first years in Los Angeles I worked as a composer-producer with one of my dearest friends, award-winning film composer Daniel Indart. Later on I decided to dedicate myself fully to teaching music and creating music educational materials. Since then I have worked with another dear friend of mine, my longtime publisher Andrew Gordon at adgproductions.com.
In my years as a music educator, I have been blessed by being able to work with music students from all over the world. My students have been a great source of personal and musical inspiration for me, and it is to all of them that I dedicate all of my books and my other writings.
I have been a student of different Afro-Latin musical styles for many years. I have been able to apply what I have learned in different album productions, music for film, media, and later on in the writing of several instructional music books.
In the last few years, I have written several books on various topics, including Ear Training, Jazz Keyboard Voicings, Improvisation Patterns, and Contemporary Keyboard Technique. I also have written and published several books on Afro-Latin music such as “Merengue Piano Styles,” “Afro Cuban Montunos for Piano,” “Latin Jazz Piano, Vol. 1,” “Ultimate Latin Riffs,” “Afro Cuban Montunos for Guitar,” and “Further Adventures in Afro Cuban Music.”
One of my current goals is to develop this website CamposMusic.com, into an online environment where musicians and music lovers can find a great variety of music instructional material, physical and digital products, useful free downloadable material, my own musical compositions, scores, videos, audio back-up tracks for practicing and other cool stuff...
I am looking forward to a simple and quiet life which will give me the space to study, practice, teach, compose and write many other books and write a lot of music.
Blessings to all,
Carlos Campos
