My favorite free MIDI Player is the latest version of QuickTime for both Windows and Mac platforms.
QuickTime can also play mp3, mp4, aac, mov and many other formats.

The Free Notation Player displays MIDI files as sheet music that you can view on the screen while the notes play, and also print.

Mac users can turbo charge QuickTime with the free plugin “Perian”
Perian will let you open AVI, DIVX, FLV and many other formats through QuickTime.
